Day 8: Missouri Digital Heritage:

https://www.sos.mo.gov/mdh/

Researching local areas where your ancestors lived is the most valuable tool I have found when it comes to research. Most areas on a state, county, or even city level will have an archives or heritage societies that specialize in a small region.

The Missouri Digital Heritage collection has a vast resource of records available free online. This records collection provides death records, prison records, and countless other valuable resources. A vague mention in a court record helped me discover an odd family murder mystery in my own family history and helped me locate my great-great grandmother’s second spouse that I never could have found without that record.
