Abandoned & Forgotten: Moncrief Road Cemeteries | Modern Cities

Cemeteries and genealogy go hand in hand. Old cemeteries are a genealogists version of Disney World. This story about the plight of some of the local cemeteries in Jacksonville, Florida was a depressing read this morning.

Looking at Find A Grave is appears that most of these historic and rapidly declining graves haven’t even been photographed at this time. It may be time to see if some of the locals can work to preserve this history before it is gone. Someday people will wish they had worked harder to preserve these valuable pieces of history.
