Day 26: Ellis Island Passenger Search

Ellis Island opened in 1892. At that time, it became the first Federal immigration station. Prior to 1890 individual states operated immigration centers such as nearby Castle Garden.

Ellis Island officially closed as an immigration center in 1954.

This site contains the records of over 51 million passengers who arrived in America during that period in their free database.
